A River Runs Through It
Our experienced, professional guides will get you started off on the right foot if you’ve never fly fished before. If you have, they can help you brush up on your skills and learn more advanced fishing techniques. Instruction will also cover equipment, fly selection, entomology, reading river currents, angling strategies, and conservation ethics.
Fly fishing school occurs on either the Middle Fork or North Fork of the Flathead River. These Wild and Scenic Rivers form Glacier National Park’s southwestern border. Native Westslope Cutthroat Trout, along with Rainbow and Brook trout, inhabit these turquoise waters. You’ll fish from a dory, which can accommodate 2 people.
Meeting Notes: July and August, 8:30 AM or 2:00 PM. All trips meet at our office. We are located 1.5 miles west of West Glacier, on Highway 2. Look for our sign, Glacier Guides and Montana Raft, on the north side of the highway between mile marker 151 and 152. Our property is just off the highway tucked in the trees. When you see our sign turn to the north and you will see us shortly thereafter.
Colin, our guide, was excellent! He was professional yet friendly and fun. He was perfect for my grandson and myself in his teaching while fishing method. We both had great companionship with him for the entire day. The lunch was good and we caught lots of fish and appreciated Colin’s respect for the fish and the river. Thank you for a truly terrific experience! -Mike K.
