Glacier National Park Guides
Raft, Hike, Fish, Bike, Stay
RAFTING
Glacier’s border rivers offer exciting white water adventures and relaxing scenic floats! We guide half day, full day, overnight, and custom Glacier National Park raft trips. Don’t miss our locally sourced, largely organic dinner option. It’s called West Glacier’s best kept dining secret on TripAdvisor!
HIKING
In 1983, the National Park Service chose us as Glacier’s backpacking guide service. We backpack, hike, and Nature Walk all over the park from about May 10 through October 15. Join us for half, full, or multiple day hiking experiences. Scheduled trips leave daily. You can also customize a private adventure for your group!
FISHING
Whether you’re a novice or a pro yourself, you’ll never forget fly fishing Glacier Park’s rivers. Let our professional guides hone your skill set on a half, full, or multi-day trips. Our stunning rivers are designated Wild and Scenic for a reason! You can catch fish with us on Montana’s Smith River, too. The Smith is the only permitted river in Montana.
BIKING
We guide spring bicycle tours on the Going-to-the-Sun Road before it is open to vehicle traffic. Typically, we bike as far as plowing permits. Sometimes, we go all the way to Logan Pass! We are located on the Gateway to Glacier bike path. Bike from our office into Glacier National Park! We rent bikes, e-bikes, and carriers, too.
CHALETS
Sperry Chalet and Granite Park Chalet are the last two chalets standing in Glacier National Park. We take groups there on 3 and 6 day tours throughout the summer. Chalet trips are an incredible way to explore Glacier without carrying a heavy pack! The hikes to the chalets are fabulous. And so are the meals you’ll have while you’re there!
LODGING
After a full day of Glacier National Park adventures, relax on the porch at ourΒ quiet, cozy Glacier Guides Lodge. Largely locally sourced, organic, continental breakfast included. Friendly innkeeper to help you with your Glacier vacation. Rated #1 on TripAdvisor. Β Two person per room maximum. We alsoΒ have a charming Guest House available for larger groups.
Adventures in Glacier National Park: Raft, Hike, Fish, Bike, Stay
Glacier Guides and Montana Raftβs mission is to provide exceptional active travel vacations and experiences in and around Glacier National Park, while preserving and protecting Glacierβs unique ecosystem using the best available, ecologically-sound practices.
Who Are We?
First, we founded Glacier Guides in 1983 to provide ecologically sensitive backcountry guiding and interpretation in Glacier Park. Back then, there were just three of us! Four years later we added river rafting and became Glacier Guides and Montana Raft.
After that, white water rafting led us into fly fishing. Next, we obtained a fishing permit to guide on the Smith River, too. Then, we built Glacier Guides Lodge in 2010. We wanted to give our guests an eco-friendly lodging option in West Glacier. After that, Glacier Guides Guest House came along. And of course, we’ve always rented hiking, camping, and river equipment.
Our newest move is guiding bike and e-bike tours of Glacier. We only do this when the roads are closed to vehicle traffic in the spring. So much fun! We definitely thrive on change.

Today, with more than ninety guides and support workers on staff, we provide Glacierβs most comprehensive, ecologically sensitiveΒ rafting, hiking, fishing, and biking services. Some of us speak Spanish, French, and German! We also excel at having a great time together, and sharing that with others.
