We had a wonderful stay at the guest house-wish it could’ve been longer! The house was clean and comfortable. We even got to enjoy watching deer each evening from the front patio. It is a perfect house for multiple families, especially nice to have the whole downstairs for those with younger children. Great place!

Did a half day fly fishing trip on the flathead river with Jamie as our guide. It was a ton of fun, we both caught fish, and Jamie is a knowledgeable and patient guide. We are both flyfishing novices.

Went on a guided hike to Avalanche Trail yesterday with our guide Tom. Perfect way to experience the Park for the first time. I learned so much about the Park as Tom pointed out many interesting points that I would have not known if I went alone. Enjoyed the company of 5 other guests. Took a van ride about 16 miles in to access the Trail. Tom brought lunches for each and we ate halfway through on the shore of a beautiful lake. I enjoyed asking questions to learn and Tom had the answers. I would highly recommend taking a guided hike with Glacier Guides even if you’ve been to the Park before. Glad I did.

When searching for lodging close to Glacier National Park I happened upon Glacier Guides Lodge. It was comfortably rustic, cozy and the rooms had a nice array of amenities. The breakfast buffet was a plus with both hot & cold items. The coffee was excellent! Check-in was a hoot as we were greeted by a note telling us the keys were in the room and to check off our name so when staff returned they would know we’d arrived. When we did meet the staff they were welcoming and full of information about the park and surrounding area. Being a stone’s throw from the West entrance to the park was certainly a plus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Perfect base from which to explore Glacier National Park. We only had 4 in our group, but the house had plenty of room for more. We picked up groceries on the way from the airport so we could cook breakfast and dinners at the house and spend all day at the Park. Sunflower Cafe across the highway has great options to pack in for trail lunches. We loved all the windows and felt like we were already in the park while in the house. Great to have the laundry there, too to clean up before heading over to the east side of the park for the rest of our stay. I would recommend this house to anyone. visiting Glacier.

We received our first no star review …. Joking We received our first no star review ….

Joking aside, let’s talk bear spray: not for cooking, not for wearing, definitely not for bears to enjoy.

Before you go full pepper power, try not to invite the bear to brunch. Make noise, hike in groups, don’t surprise them, and keep your snacks sealed tight. If a bear still gets too close, stand your ground, stay calm, and prepare to engage your spray canister.

Keep it handy, pull the safety tab, aim low, and spray when a bear gets too friendly: about 30-60 feet away. This is a powerful deterrent, and will completely disorient the bear/cause pain, so use it when only when threatened.

We offer bear spray rentals in our office in West Glacier, and recommend always traveling in groups while enjoying Griz country!
