Reserve a Trip: Glacier National Park Bike Shuttle

  • Biking Testimonial

My husband and I had a half day fly fishing trip through Glacier Guides and Montana Raft. The whole experience was great, from making the reservations online, a phone conversation before our trip, checking in, customer service, and our wonderful guide. Glacier Guides was very easy to work with to get the trip we wanted, and very welcoming when we arrived. Everything happened exactly as advertised and exactly on time. Our guide Cam was just terrific. He took us down the Middle Fork of the Flathead River, taught us about fly fishing, helped us with our technique, and was a great companion throughout. It was a beautiful day on the river and a true highlight of our time in Montana.

We had a wonderful stay at the guest house-wish it could’ve been longer! The house was clean and comfortable. We even got to enjoy watching deer each evening from the front patio. It is a perfect house for multiple families, especially nice to have the whole downstairs for those with younger children. Great place!

Went on a guided hike to Avalanche Trail yesterday with our guide Tom. Perfect way to experience the Park for the first time. I learned so much about the Park as Tom pointed out many interesting points that I would have not known if I went alone. Enjoyed the company of 5 other guests. Took a van ride about 16 miles in to access the Trail. Tom brought lunches for each and we ate halfway through on the shore of a beautiful lake. I enjoyed asking questions to learn and Tom had the answers. I would highly recommend taking a guided hike with Glacier Guides even if you’ve been to the Park before. Glad I did.

Our family of 5 just returned from the 3 day chalet trip with Ryan and Eva and WOW! We’re still coming down from the amazing time we had! First of all, both these guides are just really cool people, super knowledgeable about the history and ecology of the park, and clearly enthusiastic about what they do. The Highline Trail was stunning, Ryan and Eva made sure everyone was comfortable with the pace and pointed out animals, berries, and interesting features when we came across them. After the hike in it was awesome to have a delicious, hot meal prepared FOR us (we felt very fortunate for our dinner after watching the rest of the guest eat freeze dried stuff). I’m so grateful for the gentle push to do the two day hikes we did while up that way; they were so worth the climb and our time at the top of the Swiftcurrent Fire Lookout is one of the absolute highlights of this trip. I want to make a special mention of how great both of these guides where with our children, my boys especially bonded with Ryan and they probably talked both his and Eva’s ears all the way off over the duration of the trip but they were so cool about it. Overall this trip was one we will never forget and always cherish and the fantastic guides and process with your company really made it that much more enjoyable. We hope to come back someday for more adventures!

IT’S HERE! Announcing our 2027 dates for our annua IT’S HERE! Announcing our 2027 dates for our annual Smith River Fishing Trip. This permitted trip is couple and/or family friendly, with fishing, rafting, hiking, and wildlife watching for all. For more information, please give us a call at
(406) -387-5555, or book online through GlacierGuides.com!

The trip will include...

GUIDED FISHING
The stunning Smith River is one of the American West’s premiere rainbow and brown trout fisheries. It’s unique in that it is only floatable by permit. Smith River State Park has one put-in point (Camp Baker) and one takeout point (Eden Bridge) for the entire 59-mile stretch. Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks closely guards the Smith’s resources and beauty. As a result, the Smith is pristine, uncrowded, and a fly fishing paradise. The permitting process ensures that the Smith experiences much less pressure than other Montana rivers. Browns and Rainbows are present in good numbers, and fish over 20” are taken on most trips. You might catch the occasional Whitefish, too.

WILDLIFE & BIRD WATCHING
Whether you’re an angler or not, this Smith River adventure is the experience of a lifetime! Birders and photographers will be on the figurative edge of the raft, as this area is known for wildlife and fowl watching. We often see mountain lion, black bear, bobcat, wolverine, flying squirrel, otter, beaver, mergansers, osprey, belted kingfishers, dippers, killdeer, American redstarts, yellow warblers, ruffed grouse, hawks, owls, common raven, swifts, hummingbirds, pileated woodpeckers, chickadees, Swainson’s thrush, varied thrush ... the list goes on and on.

RIVER HIKING
We usually arrive at the campsite around 4:00pm each day, so you will have an opportunity to explore around camp or do a short hike while your guides are setting up camp and preparing delicious meals. You can look for wildlife, head up to the canyon rim for a view from above, or respectfully explore some of the Native American archeological sites along the way.

Logan Pass weekly update: We’re looking forward to Logan Pass weekly update: We’re looking forward to one of our favorite times of year, biking the Going-to-the-Sun Road all the way to the Pass! If you’re planning a ride, remember that conditions in the mountains can change quickly. Be prepared for:

Rapid weather changes
Rocks, gravel, and debris on the roadway
Cold temperatures and strong winds, even on sunny days

Always carry:
Plenty of food and water
Basic bike repair tools and a spare tube
Extra layers and rain gear
A plan for changing conditions

The views are incredible, but mountain travel requires preparation and flexibility. Ride smart, stay aware, and enjoy this unique opportunity to experience Glacier without vehicle traffic.

Fun fact: The average Going-to-the-Sun Road opening date over the past 10 years is June 26. Seven of those ten years opened between June 13 and June 28. We’re getting close! What’s your guess for opening day?
