Our Guides

Our guided Glacier National Park hiking trips are focused on safety and ecological responsibility. Our guides are highly trained and hold multiple backcountry certifications such as Wilderness First Aid, National Park Service Bear Management, and Leave No Trace backcountry ethics training. You will receive an education about Glacier National Park’s flora, fauna, geology, history, and more while in the care of our guides — who are also highly entertaining! You can meet our guides here.

Leave No Trace Principles

At Glacier Guides and Montana Raft, we’re the guides, but the Leave No Trace Principles are our guide. On all of our trips, we will teach you about the importance of these 7 principles. In accordance with Be Considerate of Others, we’ll ask you to turn your cellphones and other technology off, or to airplane/silent mode if you’d like to use them to take pictures.

Pro Tip

Rest and relax after your hiking or backpacking adventure on the river! A full day or overnight rafting trip is the perfect conclusion to your guided Glacier National Park hiking adventure. Plus, you’ll then be able to engage in lively debate about whether Glacier is prettier from the trail or from the river.

“Katie was perfect for our group! My parents were quite nervous and she was very nurturing which eased their fears. i think they also appreciated the safety education and the description of what was coming up on our trip down. Thanks for the fun experience!”

“Greetings! Just wanted to comment on a GREAT rafting experience we had with your company this week. From the first call I made to you until we finished back at your office, I want to say EVERYONE there was just GREAT! Very Friendly, efficient, and confident that a land-lover from ND could make the trip! I expecially want to thank DEAN for his patient instruction, his wealth of information about the river and the park, and his FUN attitude! What a nice guy! Thanks again for a great time and I will most certainly recommend your company to anyone that might be going to Glacier!”
Barb and Tom P., Half Day Whitewater
“Made me want to choose Glacier Guides because staff was generous with their time. What to wear? What to bring? What to expect? All of these were answered fully and (we discoverd) honestly. Even after all the changes I made, I still felt wanted.
I know it was not in your control, but weather was perfect. Our guide, Amy, was friendly yet professional – we felt at ease and safe in her hands. Glacier Guides are happy, friendly people who love what they do always make a great experience for customers…move to Chicago, so that we can enjoy your service more often!!”
Eileen G., Half Day Whitewater

Timothy M, Half Day Whitewater
“Emily was amazing. She was fun and personable and very knowledgeable on the area, not just the water! I have rafted with another group and would definitely recommend you over them. You made it a fun and memorable experience!”

“If you are looking to experience the best of Glacier with very challenging hikes without backpacking, then I would very highly recommend this tour and I would especially recommend Glacier Guides.”

Virginia, Glacier Challenge

“There are very few moments in our lives that completely and utterly change the direction of it. Booking a trip with Glacier Guides to backpack through the backcountry was not something I would have ever envisioned myself doing … With my head down watching my feet, step by careful step, we eventually arrived at the top. I could finally look up. What I saw made me question everything I thought I knew. I saw the clouds that carried the hail move quickly to the west and sunshine start to shine in the valleys below. It was beautiful. I saw myself do something I would have never thought I could. It was beautiful. It turns out I was stronger than I thought. I could do things I didn’t know I could. I could drink water out of streams! I could eat huckleberries off of bushes! I could climb a mountain in a hail storm!  After this moment my perspective changed. I thought I knew who I was and what I wanted out of life. I never questioned it because I thought I could never change. Now I had the courage to ask myself hard questions and act on my conclusions. Thank you for everything! The trip we took in August 2015 with our guide Michael completely changed our lives.”
