Description: The focus of this Glacier National Park fly fishing school is to teach you how to fly fish or, if you already know the basics, you’ll learn more advanced techniques. Fishing schools include instruction covering equipment, fly selection, entomology, reading river currents, angling strategies and conservation ethics.
We run our fly fishing lessons on either the Middle Fork or North Fork of the Flathead River, which form Glacier National Park’s southwestern border. These waters support native West Slope Cutthroat along with Rainbow and some Brook trout. You’ll be fishing from a dory which can accommodate 2 people. Our guides are very knowledgeable, and lunch on the river is included. Our rivers become fishable around the beginning of July.
All trips require the purchase of a Montana fishing license prior to your arrival at our office. We recommend printing one online by going to FWP web site. Most fly shops and sporting goods stores in Montana sell them as well.

Meeting Notes: In July and August you will meet at 8:30 AM at our office in West Glacier. In early September due to cooler temperatures in the morning the meeting time is at 10:30 AM. In mid September we meet at 11:30 AM. We are located 1.5 miles west of West Glacier, on Highway 2. Look for our sign (Montana Raft/Glacier Guides Inc.) on the north side of the highway between mile marker 151 and 152. Our property is just off the highway tucked in the trees. When you see our sign turn to the north and you will see us shortly thereafter.
Colin, our guide, was excellent! He was professional yet friendly and fun. He was perfect for my grandson and myself in his teaching while fishing method. We both had great companionship with him for the entire day. The lunch was good and we caught lots of fish and appreciated Colin’s respect for the fish and the river. Thank you for a truly terrific experience! -Mike K.
